Catherine Hood Consulting

Welcome to the first quarter 2012 newsletter from Catherine Hood Consulting.

Newsletter Hiatus

As you may have noticed, we missed sending out a newsletter for the fourth quarter in 2011, and we're a little bit late with the first quarter newsletter for 2012. This was just a small glitch, and we're happy to be back and excited about 2012 and beyond.

Future New Office Space

The main reason for the delay in sending out this newsletter is that we hoped to announce our new address. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be, at least not in March. We still have plans to move our main office, but we don't want to announce the new address until the paperwork is signed.

If all goes as planned, Catherine Hood Consulting's main office will be moving to new office space Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This means, for one thing, we'll have better DSL hookups. It also means that Catherine will be closer to the Nashville airport.

As soon as we are certain about the new address, we will send out "change of address" emails (and letters, too, if we have your brick-and-mortar address). We expect that our main telephone number will not change, but we will keep you informed of any changes there, too.

Website Update

We have updated the website layout and pages on the site. We appreciate your suggestions. All your favorite pages (like the FAQ and quotes page) haven't moved, but we have changed the top menu and added some new features, like a site map.

One addition is a page for comments from our clients. If you would like to give us a great "office-warming" gift, please send us comments that we could add to our website.

Course Updates

With the move to the new office and more reliable web and telephone service, we are investigating the ability to teach courses through web-conferencing software. We hope to do a pilot project in April and May, with full details released soon after the test.

We also continue to test the "Seasonal Adjustment with X-12-ARIMA in Windows" on-line course. We should be able to release this to beta testers before the end of summer.

Fun Facts for Early April

As you may have noticed, April 1 was April Fool's Day in the United States. This corresponds to April as "National Humor Month" in the States. April 1 was also Palm Sunday, or Branch Sunday --- the Sunday before Easter. Easter, of course, plays an important role in the life of a Christian, but also in the life of a seasonal adjuster. April 2 is Children's Book Day and "National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day," which seems like a bad combination to me. This week is also "International Library Week."
